Thanks to 3D, Miroglio Fashion has been able to reduce waste and improve the creative process.

The company was founded in Alba in 1947, by Giuseppe Miroglio, the son of textile merchants. Giuseppe installed the first looms for the production of textiles and then in 1955, together with his children, he set up a division dedicated to the creation of mass-produced fabrics. In 1958, the business was expanded with the opening of a factory for the dyeing, printing and fixing of fabrics. In the 1970s, the company began to relocate production abroad and over the twenty years that followed, it opened new plants in the south. In 1984, the Elena Mirò brand was launched and, during those years, the Group worked with leading fashion designers such as Moschino and Krizia. This strategy led to the creation of other brands in the group such as Charactère, Diana Gallesi, Luisa Viola, Fiorella Rubino, Oltre and Motivi.

We interviewed: Lorenzo Dovesi, Chief Operations Officer, Valeriano Farinetti, Product Development Manager and Daniele Manassero, 3D Designer of the Miroglio Group. The team explains why the company decided to adopt 3D.

“The reasons why this company decided to implement 3D are many and varied: facilitation of the design process, shortening of time-to-market, but also a contribution, in terms of quality, to the entire creative process.” says Lorenzo Dovesi.

The digital challenge

After much research, the company managed to find a solution to facilitate the design and sales phase.

“Thanks to CLO we can simulate the garment on the avatar in a realistic manner, then discuss the proportions of the model with the fashion designer. This enables us to make alterations to the prototype in real time and without misunderstandings." concludes Daniele Manassero.

In fact, CLO's extensive library of 3D design tools facilitates collaboration between departments and enhances the quality of the finished garment.

"Thanks to CLO, we have seen a 90% reduction in restylings. Together with the Style Department, with which I collaborate, we develop the product further in terms of variations, graphic positions and many other aspects."

The solution

"We chose CLO software because we felt it was intuitive and easy to use. CLO integrates well with the company's existing CAD systems." says Valeriano Facchinetti.

The company adopted 3D to address the need to reduce waste and production delays. CLO has totally revolutionised the entire creative process.

Daniele Manassero asserts: “thanks to this software, the fashion designer can visualise the same garment with a wide variety of different patterns, fabrics and colours.”

Thanks to CLO, garments of any kind can be rapidly produced in 3D, the prototype can be shared with the whole team and changes made in real time (directly in CLO) in order to obtain a faithful reproduction of the garment to be made.

The results

“Thanks to CLO, we have seen a 90% reduction in restylings right from the outset. Together with the Style Department, with which I collaborate, we develop the product further in terms of variations, graphic positions and many other aspects." recounts Daniele.

CLO is the ideal tool for clothing designers who wish to design innovatively and communicate their ideas clearly and quickly.

“Thanks to 3D, the sales department can have access to all the collection variations. This has made it easier to display the variations and therefore to sell them. After the first few years of using this tool, the results have been more than satisfactory. We have extended the use of the tool to several other brands.” Lorenzo explains.

“We have reduced waste in the design process and we make fewer prototypes because the designer reaches the best solution more rapidly. Using the virtual model it is, in fact, possible to assess the look and implement the variations more quickly, with fewer resources. The result obtained is a reduction in prototyping time and costs: fewer physical prototypes are created and changes are made more quickly.”

This software is compatible with any existing 2D CAD and allows stylists, designers and pattern makers to work together.

3D is not simply a working tool but a new language of communication, useful for the whole team.
